Fashion Week has come again in the blink of an eye. It may seem like forever to you but to me it goes by so fast with all of the running from show to show everyday! Whew. A stiletto workout indeed! With all of the new technology anyone who loves fashion can be involved with lots of designers streaming their shows. It actually makes it easier for me but, I love the atmosphere of a runway show and the intimacy of a presentation.
Day 1
I attended the NOLCHA Group fashion show at the Alvin Ailey Studios. It was a group show of independent designers Megla M, Carlos Luna, Teresa Rosati, Vassilis Zoulias, and Jetset Collective by Farasha. I liked all of the lines for different reasons. I definitely found Carlos Luna, Vassilis Zoulias and Jetset Collective by Farasha to be very wearable. I would definitely wear items from each collection. As I fashion stylist, I was inspired and would have fun using Megla M’s line for an editorial shoot. For Celebrity and events, I would go to Teresa Rosati. It was like being a kid in a candy store. I am looking forward to the next show!
Day 2
My next show was at Lincoln Center to see the presentation of Porter Grey, one of my favorites and fellow FIT alum. I love the mix of masculine and feminine. I am in love with this line. It’s fashionable and wearable. My favorite looks are below:
Here is a view of the presentation set up:
Here is what the organized chaos looks like. If you thought being a stylist was glamorous, you got another thing coming! There are a sea of people and we are all jockeying for position to take photos and to actually see the line. It’s fashionable paparazzi! LOL! I LOVE IT!!!!!
Pepsi had a great display of future designers in the main area that was really beautiful. Also, a great place to take a breather and have a cold diet Pepsi.
Day 3
I also went to see Norisol Ferrari. I had never heard of this designer and was very intrigued to see the line. The presentation was theatrical and well worth the early morning start. I loved the textures that were mixed together; leather and fur, lace and satin and tulle. Her customer is very much a strong woman who is an individual and doesn’t care what other people think. It has attitude, confidence and sex appeal. I will definitely keep my eyes on this designer.
Day 4
I had the pleasure of working backstage at the Thom Browne show at the New York Public Library. It was AMAZING! Take a look for yourself! http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/F2012RTW-TBROWNE?page=1
